A hand-built ceramic bread and butter plate inspired by bees, flowers and the natural beauty of the garden.
The centre features a floral design surrounded by soft, layered glaze colours, with three sculpted bees positioned around the plate. The bees are finished with gold lustre on their wings, adding subtle metallic detail and dimension to the piece.
A combination of Mayco and Spectrum glazes has been used to create the soft pink, cream, blue and earthy tones. The plate has undergone three separate firings, allowing the different glaze layers and gold lustre to develop their individual character.
As with all handmade ceramics, the glaze will vary with each firing. Differences in colour, movement and surface detail are part of the process and mean that every plate is unique.
At 17.5cm, this piece is designed as a decorative bread and butter plate, but would also make a beautiful small serving plate or display piece.
